Winter came early to Minnesota this year. We had barely stepped into November before a cold front dropped the temperatures 30-40 degrees, and with it, a foot of snow. Pretty, yes, but at 0 F (-18 C) idyllic landscapes quickly lose their charm. Just another four-five months to go…oh, goody.
Maneuvering through an icy world adds an extra dimension to daily life when we must traverse health issues too. Jon broke his foot just two weeks before our autumn seminar and had surgery a week after the event.
The recent two months have brought many opportunities to operate in new territory and, consequently, expand our horizons. Faced with limitations, we’ve used our creativity to find new ways to do the familiar. With one person who can’t lift or bend and another who can’t walk, our teamwork has taken on new dimensions, sometimes humorous.
Most of all, the experience has deepened our capacity for love and service, and has tested our mettle in preparation for the next cycle of expansion and growth. Life is change, and through it all love is the only constant. Love—the kind of selfless giving that never asks what’s in it for us, and which never expects a word of thanks or even recognition for our deeds. Unconditional, true love.
We offer our best wishes to you and yours for a happy new year!
Warm greetings,
